Inspired by the 13th-century poem by a Franciscan monk about the sorrow of the Virgin Mary at the crucifixion of her son Jesus Christ, Shropshire\u2019s choreography for three female dancers (aged 36\u201346) is not a literal interpretation but an embodied translation. The dancers bring emotion, sound and rhythm to life in a refined interplay of harmony and tension, emphasizing both the universality and intimacy of human grief and grace.
