With TAO Dance Theater, acclaimed Chinese choreographer Tao Ye connects heritage and futurism, body and soul. Known for his minimalist and fluid movement language, he presents “16” & “17” from his celebrated “Series of Numbers”, awarded with the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale 2023. In “16”, sixteen dancers move as one great dragon – a flowing, spiralling line inspired by the traditional Loong Dance, exploring the elasticity of Eastern physicality. “17” continues this journey, blending movement and sound as dancers synchronize rhythm, breath and voice in a hypnotic, ever-shifting choreography.
